National Service Scheme

NSS means National Service scheme unit launched in 2019.To be a platform to the students for community work and developing a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building. The aim is to develop students’ personality through community service. The NSS is useful not only for the development of the students & personality, but it also helps promote the unity and integrity of the nation by bringing together young people from diverse geographical and socio-cultural backgrounds

The National Service Scheme (NSS) started functioning at GIET DEGREE COLLEGE in 2019 and the performance of this scheme is highly satisfactory. More than 150 recorded student volunteers are working on various activities in regular and special camping programmes under the supervision of the programme officers and programme coordinator.

Objectives:
The broad objectives of the NSS are to: -
(i) Understand the community in which the students work.
(ii) Understand themselves in relation to their community.
(iii) Develop among them a sense of social and civic responsibility.
(iv)Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in the
solution of problems.
(v) Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and
community problems.
(vi)Develop competence required for collective existence and sharing of
responsibilities.
(vii) Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
(viii) Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
(ix) Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
(x) Practice national integration and social harmony.

Every year on September 24, India celebrates as NSS day.

Events Organised:
VOTERS’ awareness programme: Voters awareness programme is organised among the students to create awareness about the importance of casting votes.
Blood Donation camp: The camp is organised to educate the students about the blood donation and lives one can save by donating the blood.
Dental Camp: GIET DEGREE COLLEGE in collaboration with GSL, conducted a dental camp in free dental checkups for the students.
CORONA:  Distributed food and required medicine to the refugees and the daily wage workers struck here because of unavailability of transport.

AIDS Awareness camp: GDC organized an awareness programme, to safeguard one from being affected by the disease.
Clean & Green: The motto of conducting is to teach the students about the importance of keeping himself/herself and his/her surroundings tidy.
Plantation: plantation programme is organised to make the pupils understand the connection between the man and the nature in a feasible way.
